Adult Swim has released a “First Look” video for Rick and Morty The Anime, which features what appears to be the show’s opening animation sequence and a video message from director Takashi Sano (Tower of God, Rick and Morty vs. Genocider, Summer Meets God (Rick Meets Evil). The opening song is titled “Love Is Entropy” and is performed by Otonez.

At one point of the video message, Sano says, “What I’ve tried to accomplish in these 10 episodes is to take all my favourite parts of watching Rick and Morty… compress them down to extract their essence, and then add a unique Japanese twist.”

Telecom Animation Film is the animation production company for Rick and Morty The Anime, which features a different continuity from the original American animated series created by Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland. Sano is penning the script. Other staff include:

• Art director: Arisa Matsuzawa (Blue Thermal art board artist)
• Color designer: Studio Road’s Makiko Kojima (The Marginal Service, Summer Meets God [Rick Meets Evil], Rick and Morty vs. Genocider, Tower of God assistant color designer)
• Composite director: Tatsuo Noguchi (Tower of God, Summer Meets God [Rick Meets Evil], Rick and Morty vs. Genocider co-composite director)
• Music composer: Tetsuya Takahashi (Summer Meets God [Rick Meets Evil] and Rick and Morty vs. Genocider co-composer, Appleseed Alpha, Harlock: Space Pirate)

The first episode of Rick and Morty was released back in 2013. The show’s sixth season premiered in September 2022. Netflix describes the plot as:

Brilliant but boozy scientist Rick hijacks his fretful teenage grandson, Morty, for wild escapades in other worlds and alternate dimensions.
